Brook at Washington St.

The houses on Washington Street remain today, with some minor remodeling and siding that changes their appearance. The brook has been deepened and high stone wall so each side attempt to control the large amounts of water that used to flood this area in the 19th century. However, a hurricane like "Floyd" can easily overtop the walls by several feet. The stream is shown at very low water - however it can reach the top of the bridge during a heavy rainfall.
